Wounded Healer In The Context Of Balint

Join us at Insole Court in Cardiff for a reflective and restorative Balint Training Day, open to all mental health professionals with an interest in Balint work or progressing toward accreditation—whatever your discipline, grade, or level of experience.

Our theme, “The Wounded Healer,” invites us to explore how our own humanity, vulnerability, and lived experience shape the therapeutic relationship. As Carl Jung observed:

“A good half of every treatment that probes at all deeply consists in the doctor’s examining himself.”

Throughout the day, delegates will take part in two Balint sessions with the same facilitators and peers, allowing for continuity, depth, and shared understanding. You may register for either:

• Classic Balint Group (recommended if you are unsure which option to choose)
• Balint Leadership Training Group, for those wishing to practise and reflect on leading a Balint session

The programme also offers space for networking, quiet reflection, and a forest bathing experience, providing a gentle opportunity to slow down, connect with nature, and support the theme of the wounded healer within the tranquil grounds of Insole Court.

Discounted places are available for undergraduate students with an interest in Balint work and reflective practice.

Certificates and PPD - 6 hours

Delegates are invited to participate in either classic Balint or leadership training groups. Please indicate your preference when registering for the event.

• Classic Balint: delegates experience attending Balint groups as members, the groups are facilitated by accredited Balint leaders. If you are new to Balint or have no experience of leading/co leading, we recommend choosing this option.
• Balint leadership training Delegates have the opportunity to have a go at leading a group and also discussion on leadership techniques and skills in the presence of accredited Balint trainers.
