Come to the Balint Spring Weekend Workshops at Whalley Abbey, Lancs, 16 - 18 March,  2018

A residential weekend based at the peaceful & comfortable conference house on the Banks of the River Calder in the grounds of the ruined abbey. (See www.whalleyabbey.org )

Accommodation at Whalley Abbey itself is now full. There are still non-residential places available. See http://www.booking.com for nearby accommodation to book yourself.

Time will be spent in case discussion groups in which doctors, psychotherapists, counsellors, practice nurses, other allied health professionals, medical and nursing students can share and explore their feelings about their patients in the safety of small groups or in a Balint Group Leaders Intensive Workshop which will run concurrently, for those already with Balint Group experience who want to learn, practise & improve their group leadership skills.

There will be Saturday afternoon free to give you time to explore locally, eg the abbey ruins, gardens,riverside path & village or to visit the market town of Clitheroe with its castle or Pendle Hill with its Quaker & witchcraft connections.

Whalley has a railway station with connections to Manchester, & is only 20 minutes from the motorway network.

Options for attendance

‘All in’ Residential Price includes wholesome food & comfortable en-suite accommodation from Friday evening meal to Sunday lunch inclusive (now full). Non-residential includes all meals except breakfast (still available). For fees see below.

Student places

We are offering a limited number of places for medical and nursing students with some clinical experience, at a subsidised rate £25 (non-residential). If you wish to attend the conference as a student you must first apply in writing to Dr. Caroline Palmer, providing details of the course you are on and the name of your medical school. Your application must be approved before you complete online registration.

Discount for Balint Society Members

Current Balint Society members can receive a £10 discount against the fees shown below (excluding the Student fee). Members will be sent a discount code via email. If you are a current Balint Society member and have not received your discount code, let us know at event@balint.co.uk.

Please note that to comply with Gift Aid regulations you can only claim a Balint member discount once per year.

This event is endorsed by the Royal College of General Practioners. The RCGP is the foremost organisation in the field of primary care.

Cancellation Policy

The Balint Society tries to make events cost neutral, so our cancellation policy aims to ensure that we cover our costs, but no more.  Cancellation requests should be submitted in writing to Balint Events.

Where no venue costs are incurred by the Society, the fee paid minus the Balint Society Administration charge of £25.00 will be refunded.  For payments made by bank transfer, the bank account name and number must be included with the cancellation request so that the refund can be arranged.

Where venue costs attributable to a delegate are incurred, this amount plus the Balint Society Administration charge of £25.00 will be deducted from the fee paid before a refund is issued. For very late cancellations, this may mean that no refund is possible as the Society will be committed to pay the venue. 

In the case of payment by Trusts, an alternative delegate may be sent to the event free of charge.

Please note that when a delegate does not attend, no refund can be issued.

In the circumstance that the event has to be cancelled by us, the Balint Society will provide a full refund to delegates.

Occasionally it is necessary to make late changes to an event programme and the Society reserves the right to do this.
