Are you sometimes PUZZLED by patients? INTRIGUED by your interactions? CONFUSED by your consultants’ reactions?
If so then we would like to offer you the opportunity to join a Balint group with medical students from all over the UK to continue exploring these ideas. The group is open to any clinical medical student who has had prior experience of clinical practice, and can be located anywhere in the world.
Previous students have found that the group has given them:
- An improved understanding and appreciation of the doctor-patient relationship
- The opportunity to build relationships with peers to share experiences
- An awareness of some of the challenges that might be faced as a doctor
- Increased confidence in presenting cases
Balint groups connect to different parts of the course and help you grow as a reflective practitioner, look after your wellbeing and keep your empathy strong.
If you decide to join, we'd like you to attend at least five out of the eight groups over the academic year. This helps a group get together and creates a good space for reflective practice. We would be happy to give you a Balint Society certificate as evidence of your participation, for your portfolio.
The group currently meets from 7:30pm – 8:30pm on the first Tuesday of each month during term times, and are hosted using the Zoom platform.
